Andre's Family - April 25, 2012 (Wed, 25 Apr 2012)
Well, last night was the first night in a couple weeks that Ana and the three boys were in their own beds, in their own home.  If you've been following the updates, you've read all that's been going on.  Ana and Andre in the hospital for 11 days, the other two boys staying with us, etc... For us, yesterday was bitter/sweet.  In the morning, we took Ana and the boys out to their home, finished a final cleaning, setting up of bunk beds, and getting things ready for resuming life.  We feel it is kind of a waiting game, to know if Ana will be able to handle administering the meds to both herself and Andre, while also staying on top of Mario and Jefrey keeping things tidy.  She's even talked some with Gina about that, feeling a little scared and nervous about it all.  Saying "see ya later" and driving away felt strange as we've been so closely connected on everything these past couple of weeks - I felt sad that I knew the older two boys wouldn't get their nightly shower / scrub down, go to bed in clean clothes, with bellies full of healthy food - but hoping that they soaked in something while they were with our family.  So they are back at life in the village of Buena Vista.  While we are walking beside them, checking in and making sure all is well, they are a family unit, and we are trying to encourage and empower Ana to be the mom that God created her to be.  Part of the sweetness in it all was the reminder of everyone out there who cares.  Once again, we've seen our friends and family in the States rally around one of our friends here in Guatemala - bringing hope and healing.  We are thankful for all who have helped and who have asked what else needs to be done.  As a family, we had a sweet night together, relaxing, watching a movie and taking a much needed deep breath from the craziness of the past two weeks.  We are thankful that Andre weighed 22 lbs. his last night with us ( when checked into the hospital he weighed 15 lbs.. ) As you finish reading, please continue to pray for Ana and the boys.  Tomorrow we head to the hospital for a check up on Andre and his malnutrition and then on Monday we go to the center for disease control to get the first month of meds for the HIV.  A few important days in the life of this precious family so please take the time and keep them in your prayers!  We are still looking to get their bathroom built in the upcoming 2 weeks and to get their yard fenced in soon, to keep dogs out.  You can help by CLICKING HERE.
